Public Square nominated for Architizer A+ Award


James Corner Field Operations, the design firm behind Public Square, was nominated for an architecture and urban transformation award. Architizer named Public Square among the best projects in their A+ Awards.

The category is Architecture and Urban Transformation. This will be the 5th annual Architizer A+ Awards to be handed out. Architizer is a New York City based program, that hosts the largest awards program that is focused on celebrating the year's best architecture and products. Winners will be announced on April 11th, with the official award being given out during a red carpet Gala in New York City on May 11th. A panel of more than 400 judges from the fields of fashion, publishing, product design, real estate developing, and tech made the nominations. The panel and a public voting process are used to determine winners.

Here's the project description from Architzer.com: For LANDStudio and the Group Plan Commission, Field Operations has designed a vibrant new park for Cleveland’s Public Square. Opened June 2016, this 6-acre open space in the heart of Downtown dramatically reconfigures the once fragmented quadrants into a newly unified whole. Streets have been reorganized and connectivity to adjacent buildings has been emphasized. The new park promises a beautiful series of settings for people, programming, and diverse activities. The design creates a bold and iconic new identity to the Square, while addressing key challenges of unification, clarification, and activation. (READ MORE)
