The link to the lake, Pedestrian Bridge project

Cuyahoga County, in partnership with the City of Cleveland and the Group Plan Commission, is leading a process to design and build a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge from our downtown Malls to our lakefront.

Lake Erie is a unique asset to Cleveland, yet we aren’t always able to access it easily.

Our objective is to create an iconic pedestrian connection that will enable Clevelanders to move easily between Downtown and the lakefront.

In doing so, we will link Cleveland’s revitalized civic core with our world-class cultural amenities, natural resources and new development on the lakefront.

THE VISION

Our goal is to create a pedestrian connector that will span rail and highway barriers and enable people to easily move from Downtown to the lakefront.

In doing so, we will link Cleveland’s revitalized civic core – to the newly transformed Public Square and enhanced Mall, along with the new Cleveland Convention Center, Global Center for Health Innovation and Convention Center Hilton hotel – with our world-class cultural amenities and natural resources on the lakefront.

Creating an accessible connection to the lakefront will unify Downtown Cleveland, serve as the foundation for generating additional investment and result in our lakefront becoming a more sustainable and robust economic engine than it has been in the past.
